This is an upgrade from the JP 53 I have had for a few years now, totally satisfied. I originally bought it in 2020 and after nearly 2 years of heavy use the thermostat went bad and Iceco replaced the entire unit no questions asked. So when looking to upgrade for my off-grid cabin I didn't even shop around.
This VL75ProD just got done with 10 days off grid. It started packed with raw dairy, eggs, 20 lbs of ground buffalo and much more. I had one side on 25 and the other on 35 and everything stayed chilly. That compressor is no joke. Stuff froze solid in the freezer.
I have one dedicated 750 Wh battery with a 200W solar panel but I can go almost 2 days without sun with that setup. With sun it's indefinite. Beyond satisfied. Total paradigm changer as I only had to go to town once. Absolutely get this if you are considering it.
Unit worked great plugged into outlet in the bed of my truck and worked great running off generator.
Cooler is awesome, works as advertised very well. Very solid. Only two things that keep it from 5 stars. I feel there was a missed opportunity for the power cord connection that will be the first part that fails. It is not a very solid secure connection and it sticks out from the is control panel. I can see somebody accidentally tripping on it and breaking it off rendering the cooler broken and not working. Also, while the lids are very solid and well built.They do not seal very well. In the
Back of my truck while driving, wind can get in between the lid and blow hot air into the cooling compartment , causing it to run constantly and draining my battery that I had plugged in at the time. I could see this issue live as I was driving because the temperature was not keeping but as soon as I would come to stop the temperatures would drop fast. This caused a battery that normally runs the cooler for over 6 hours to only last 2.5 hrs during driving. This.
Could easily have been resolved if the lid sealed tighter and or the gasket lip was larger. As it is now the lid does lock, but there is no good tight seal.You can lift up on the lid and it moves around very clunky l. Which is not something I really expected from an $800 dollars plus item. So in short, it's everything they say it is.There's just some missed opportunities for simple improvements. The cord connection really bothers me.I feel like that's going to be the reason mine breaks because it gets stepped or kicked in a camping environment, or shifts in transport during an off road eventually, slides and breaks off. It just sticks out in a not very good way.
Big purchase for me, but this machine has been functioning perfectly. I’m not full time in my van but have been using this fridge/freezer full time as my partner and I transition between homes and go camping so we’ve been using this in my van and in our homes so we’ve don’t have to keep transferring food around and it’s been a real load off of the moving process. Love it. Love the color!
I purchased the olive drab colored unit and it looks amazing. The unit cools down quickly and so far has performed as I had hoped. My only disappointment is with customer service. My unit came with three baskets only; two in the freezer side and one large basket instead of two in the frig side (or left side as you face the unit). I know they use to offer two baskets for the left side as this would help with not attempting to load everything into one large basket. When I asked if I could please have that option I was told no, as it is no longer an option. Well good people at ICECO, it should be!!! That aside, the unit is great and I would recommend.
