47.5QT VL45 Portable Fridge Single Zone Freezer | ICECO

I bought this to have in my over-the-road truck. It has worked well over the past 5 years, running almost continuously over those past 5 years, and having been beat up over some of the worst roads in the U.S.

Opened up my vl45 right when I got it. And tested it out. I hooked it up to my goal zero yeti 1500x and wanted to see how long it would last. I started from room temp and opened it every so often. I let it run a full week and my battery was at a little less than 40%.

The ICECO VL45 hits the sweet spot between portability, capacity, and performance. It’s light enough to carry solo when empty and the sturdy handles make two-person carry easy when full. I use it as either a fridge or freezer depending on the trip — and it handles both jobs well.

It’s perfect for my hybrid truck setup with 120V outlets, and I like having the 12V option as backup. It has no problem freezing meat and other contents solid, even in warm conditions.

Only minor issue — the actual internal temperature tends to run a little warmer than the setpoint. I added a fridge thermometer inside and simply adjust down a few degrees from my target, and then it holds steady right where I want it.

Highly recommended for anyone needing reliable cold storage off-grid or on the road.

This cooler has been preforming better than I expected on hot Florida Jeep camping trips this summer. I will precook it at home before my trip and keep is running with my portable 1500 W solar power station. So far is seems like single 300 W solar panel is more than enough to keep it running on my power station indefinitely. I even tested it after a full sun charge at the campsite and when I got home from the trip and it kept my camp food leftovers at 36 degrees for right around 4 days in my hot garage. I like the simple aesthetically pleasing and rugged design with the classic sturdy handles and latches. It reminds me of the heavy duty metal coolers that my dad took camping while I was growing up. I chose this cooler over the newer more expensive model of the same size because I wanted something that was sturdy and well insulated and it is delivering on that purpose. Now, I originally did buy this for camping but I have found myself using it as a garage cooler as well. So even with the Electric company rate hikes this year charging more than ever this little cooler is energy efficient enough to not make me worry about breaking the bank. I am a fan of this cooler and I would recommend it if you’re looking for a good electric travel cooler or even garage cooler since you can power it with 12VDC or 120VAC.
