VL45 Single Zone 12V Refrigerator
Seems to be built solid, have not actually used it on any outings. Planning to in a month or so then I will have much better idea and experience of it. But for the price and hiw well it's made I am sure it will hold up to its name!
Purchased the VL45 single zone and the insulated cover just about a year ago. Took it on a 10 week camping trip from Oregon to Virginia and back starting on July 4th 2021. I mounted it on the folded down passenger side rear seat of a Gen 3 Tacoma and plugged it into a Jackery 500. The Jackery was then plugged into a 12 outlet when driving and a solar panel when needed. This thing never skipped a beat. It's cold, quiet, efficient and plenty big. It would run at least a couple 100 degree days on the Jackery alone. It is super beefy and heavy but a serious game changer for camping and traveling. Pretty much set it an forget it. I love unloading a shopping cart of food and beer into it and hitting the road.
The build quality is very nice and I’ve had it running for 2 weeks in my garage and it’s maintaining temperature well.
I Looked at a lot of different brands, but I kept coming back to this one for some reason. Maybe it was the look? It looked like it was tough. I was very impressed by the build quality when I got it. Tried it out and it was perfect! Nice and quiet! Perfect for being in cab and welcome addition to my yearly 6000 km trip!
This was given as a Christmas gift so haven’t had a chance to use it. I did plug it in using both AC and DC. Very quiet which will be nice for being at anchor. When using DC it drew 4.2 amps while running which was not all the time. So far we are satisfied. Long term cruises coming up to challenge the unit.
