68.6QT VL65 Dual Zone Portable Fridge Combo | ICECO

The VL65D is a gamechanger for us and I realize that we should have gotten one of these sooner. The best aspect of the fridge is that we will no longer be hunting around for ice when we would rather be up on the side of the mountain. I was unsure that the freezer side of my set up would be able keep a quart of ice cream frozen but it did just that; and in the hottest month of the year. I did use the cover and the fridge did need to be plugged in all the time to keep the ice cream frozen but power consumption was low enough that my 2400w solar generator was able keep up without any issues using just the solar panels to recharge. All in all this fridge will allow us to go to more remote places for longer periods of time and not have to worry about melting ice.

I purchased the VL65D mainly for camping but I can see it useful even in the backyard at home. When I first received the unit, I tested it at home for a week plus to see how it would perform, both on AC and DC. The tests went well but the ambient temperature was mainly in the 80's and low 90's. The week we went camping with it the daytime highs were over 100 degrees and the freezer rarely rose above 3 degrees! I ran it off of a solar powered lithium battery setup I built and the results were outstanding. I highly recommend getting the insulated cover as well, both to improve performance and protect the chest. The only negative I can note is the location of the display makes it a bit difficult to see if the unit is on the ground. Other than that, this thing is fantastic. Providing it holds up over time, I'm a satisfied customer.

I've been using this in my work truck for about 3 weeks now. Overall it seems like it's very good quality. My truck runs all day (F550), and I never hear it running. Its very quiet. The only reason for 4 stars is that it doesnt hold temperature very long after it turns off. I will have one side set to zero, and when I shut the truck off overnight, with an outside temperature of 60ish, the inside temp will be in the upper 30's with a case of water mostly frozen in it. Without anything cold in it, it will lose most of the temperature. I did get the cover for it, but have not put it on yet. It seems very substantial, so hopefully that will help. I also have not set the battery protection to a lower setting, so that may help as well. Overall, I'm very satisfied for what I purchased it for, which is disaster recovery, usually at hurricanes in the south. I think I may have to purchase the battery for it to help get me through the night. I would recommend it, and will update this review if I figure it out.

I have had the VL65 for 3 years and it continues to work great. We use it frequently on our camping trips. We’ve never had a problem except for broken hinges on one lid. I contacted ICECO. They responded quickly and are sending me replacements. Thank you ICECO!
