This is an expensive fridge, in fact Iceco's most expensive. My experience with two faulty fridges and their customer service has me wishing I could do it all over again and just go with the big name brand; Dometic is only a $250 more.
Read on to hear how Iceco let me down TWICE and refuses to resolve the issue.
The biggest issue I am having is that after Iceco sent me two broken fridges in a row and after promising me a refund, they have all of a sudden changed their mind and are only offering me 40% of my purchase to be refunded. 100% of the time that I have owned an Iceco fridge it has been broken, yet they think that I have got $780 of value in owning TWO broken fridges. Get real.
During my journey through a record breaking heatwave in Texas I woke up to discover my freezer side had thawed out over 15lbs of local small family grown meats, and my fridge side had exploded every liquid container leaving a massive frozen slurry that destroyed what food was inside. Through the remainder of my journey in the hottest part of the country, ICECO had left me with a $1,299 ice chest, forcing me to make frequent stops to drain out the melted ice and buy more bags. A process I had intended to avoid by going with ICECO.
I spoke with Chelsea and we had to manage with time and location to find a way to have a brand new fridge meet me during my journey. Upon receiving the new fridge I loaded it up with a fresh load of groceries that night, only to wake up the next day and have the same exact thing happen to me again. They sent me ANOTHER broken fridge, how did this get past quality control?
At this point it was too late for me to schedule a third fridge to be sent to me during my road trip.
I was willing to accept that a fridge could be faulty the first time around, but I'm not about to give them a THIRD chance at this. Chelsea understood and promised me a refund at the end of my roadtrip. Well, I sent the fridge back and guess what, suddenly a refund is no longer an option. Instead they are only offering me $480 of my original full purchase.
My order has not been delivered! Your customer service rep has been in contact with me but thus far they are unsuccessful with their efforts.
Since I have had this freezer/refrigerator for only 20 days and have not had the chance to evaluate it during the summer months, hopefully it will perform the way it has up until now. It will have to perform in 110 degree heat before I know for sure.
I must say that whoever designed the packaging for the VL90ProD should be congratulated. It was very easy to remove the freezer without destroying the packaging. The addition of the 2 external black fabric belts with D rings are a must and appreciated.
I am concerned about 2 error codes when I switch power. I get a E1 code when I go to 12vdc. Turning power off then on again corrects the issue. Also when I switch from 12vdc to 120vac, I get a E2 code. It does correct itself after a few minutes or turning the freezer off then back to on.
I had a Dometic freezer/refrigerator for 8 years. It never gave me any code failures.
If it performs through next October as it is now, it will be acceptable. It does cool and freeze very quickly while in the ECO mode. Good job.
Arrived well packed and undamaged. I was hesitant to spend this much on a cooler - but everything I read said it was much much more than that. Everything I saw and read online was 100% right. This thing is built like a tank and is impressively designed. I plugged this up to the built in inverter on my 22 Toyota Tacoma and quickly them temps dropped from 88 to 33. Super Quiet!! Impressive!! I left it in the back of the Tacoma and to my delight, the factory bed cover closed without hitting the VLPro90 top lids. It seemed to fit in between the built in bed slides just perfectly. I left it overnight without power and woke up to go to work. Temps were still at 50 which I guess was OK without power and 74 degrees outside. Plugged it back up to the Tacoma and drove to work about 35 minutes. When I arrived, temps were in the 30-40's. I disconnected from the Tacoma and plugged in my Bluetti EB3A (which is also awesome) and used it to get to 32 on both sides. Now it's sipping a meager 5 watts from the EB3A and occasionally peaks up to 57 watts when the compressor kicks in. Pretty dang awesome. The EBA3 display is estimating it will be able to power the VLPro90 for the next 4.5 hours (maybe longer/maybe shorter). Everyone I've shown it to at work is simply amazed. There are the nay-sayers who said I can do the same thing with a Yeti - just add ice. My response was - ice takes up room in your cooler, weighs more to haul around, and wont freeze what you want. I'm hoping a few accessories come out soon like a slide and a cover. Other than that - I'm VERY HAPPY customer. I'll end up buying more from Iceco - just need some sales discounts tempt me :)
Thing is badass takes up quite a bit of room in my truck but I can store my weeks groceries or more. I live it
