I waited two years to buy a fridge/freezer. Spent endless hours looking at reviews and videos over those past two years. Decided to pull the plug and buy a ICECO JP50. I finally took the fridge on its maiden voyage over Xmas. I live in a semi remote area so I buy $200-$300 worth of meat at Costco on my trips to see family. On my way home I had my fridge in my trunk filled to the top with some choice steaks only to find my fridge wasn’t on for my 6 1/2 hr journey because of the 12 volt connection between the extension and the fridge plug pushed apart. Visually they were connected but not so much electrically. I’m not sure at what point they disconnected. But my fridge was at 34F when I put the meat in. On arrival it had no power and the fridge was at 46F. I checked the entire system all of which checked good. I then checked the 12 volt extension connection only to find it ever so slightly separated. I’m Very disappointed! Might be a great fridge but it’s only worth the sub-par cheap cord if it’s not powered!
I find that it sips power when connected to a Jackery 1000 in ECO mode, 30ish watts. I was able to run it for several days. The one concern I have is finding the safe temperature setting. Using a hanging fridge thermometer I find that the air temp is 8 to 10 degrees above the readout. Setting it to 32 gets the air temp to 38 to 40 degrees. So I need to find the right temp to set it to to make sure the food is kept at a safe temp without freezing the food that touches the sidewalls. I had filled with water bottles but perhaps results will be different with a full load of food. Arrived in good shape, attaching the handles was easy. Why do these mfg. make the covers black?
It is simply ridiculous.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
What is the height needed to fully open the lid, measuring from the floor (or truck bed in my case)?
at least 40.2''

Can JP50 and JP40 be operated both freezer and fridge at the same time? If not which models does?
Sorry to tell you that JP40 and JP50 are single zone fridge freezer, it can't operate as fridge and freezer at the same time. You can take a look at dual zone models, like GO20, VL60D, VL65D, VL75ProD, VL90ProD.
Does it come with a at cord?
JP50 comes with DC and AC power cord and a extension cord.
Can the VL60 Single Zone 12v Freezer be operated as a refridgerator if you do not want to freeze food?
yes, VL60 single zone can be a refrigerator or a freezer.
Watching JP50 reviews and see complaints about DC power plug popping out of the charger randomly. Has that issue been remedied? I want to buy today, but that may be a deal breaker... Please let me know. Thank you!
yes, we have upgraded the DC cable.
