The Expedition
During an 18‑day, 2,000‑mile overland trek across the rugged back‑roads of California and Nevada, my 4x4 overland trailer suffered a sudden roll‑over early in the journey. My two ICECO APL20 coolers rode the impact, endured the tumble, and kept the food and drinks at the right temperature for the entire expedition, although looking like battlescard warriors. They performed flawlessly even though they had been compromised with broken latches and cracked hinges.

What Works Well
Thermal Hold - Maintained frozen meals and chilled drinks despite hours of desert heat. Keeps nutrition and morale intact on long trips.
Durability - Outer shells survived dents, dings, and the forces of a roll‑over. Proves ICECO’s rugged construction can handle abuse.
Ease of Securing - A few velcro straps kept the doors shut while navigating rough terrain with broken hinges and latches. Simple, inexpensive trail fix allowed the unit to perform out on the trail, the way all of off-roading is meant to be.
Insulation Quality - No frostbite on frozen items, no sweating on chilled items. Confirms the core insulation works as advertised.

The Battle Scars (my fault)
Physical Damage: Both units now bear scratches, dents and dings from the accident. True warriors. Nothing another set of covers will not solve.
Hinge & Latch Failure: The most critical issue is broken hinges and latches on each door, preventing a proper seal. This is 100% my fault, not the product. It withstood my actions, that says a lot.
Despite these scars, the refrigeration performance remains solid—thanks to the original engineering and the available protective covers I added.

I reached out to the ICECO support team for assistance in locating new latches and hinges. They reviewed my problem and helped me find a positive path of resolution as I thought I was bound to velcro straps forever or having to relieve these two of their duties permanently which would have been a very premature gesture. Outstanding products and customer service.

Tried it at home with my power bank. I was impressed with how long the charge lasted.

I have a big dual zone, I keep in the truck for camping, road trips, etc. I knew a smaller, single zone would be great on the boat. I'm not disappointed!! Not cheap, well worth the money!!

I wanted to test the fridge freezer with my Eco flow river too. I plugged it in set the thermostat for 26°. Put a container of water inside and it ran off the Eco flow for three days and three nights at 26° freezing the water I was really really impressed. I will use this in my winter travels to Arizona.

After find some YouTube reviews I saw the correct way to configure the APL20. It was simple and a few more sentences would have made it really easy. In the end I gave it 4 stars rather than five. The unit seems really nice. I’ll actually use it next week on a trip to California. I’ve used it in the house to see how well it works and pretty much matches what the instructions say it will do. Surprising how little power it actually uses.

What is the height total of the cooler ?

I've had the APL20 for a few weeks now. It works as advertised. Very quiet and holds temperature well. I've run it on AC power and DC 12v power with no problems. I've had a draw of 10-40W when the compressor is on. I haven't been able to wring it out on off-grid trials and get a good feel for how much energy it will consume over extended periods of time in hot conditions. Build is solid and looks very nice.

This is our third Iceco. We love their product. Their support is amazing and very responsive. Their products work great too. All their coolers are easy to use and very portable.

Sustains temp indefinitely on 100 w solar and 500 battery

This freezer was all we had hoped for. Visually it is sleek and clean. Easily holds all of our items, more than I imagined. Quiet, can hardly hear it at all. I highly recommend this freezer. It is worth every penny.

What a great little cooler! I can grocery shop on my lunch break for frozen items and they're frozen when I get home 6 hours later. For the price compared to a yeti and the ice that's required. You can't beat iceco!
