The unit does work well, but it was my understanding that unit came with the cover. Unfortunately it didn’t and no one has responded to my email about this discrepancy. I do understand that things change and the web doesn’t always get updated, but the information I read, stated that this model came with the cover. So do I get mad at the poor customer service or the faulty product discrepancy?
Anyway, the unit only has one build issue that isn’t a big deal. Sealed interior to prevent spills from seeping into the unit would be good. So I guess I will need to silicone the inside bottom.
My vl45 unit arrived damaged. contacted company as instructed via txt, but nothing...
Ordered the VL45 on Sunday and it arrived on Thursday. Although I believe the fridge was shipped out of central Texas and it was delivered to Oklahoma. Even still I was impressed with the shipping. The fridge came though the shipping process in perfect condition. No scratches or dings. The box the fridge was shipped in was very robust with heavy cardboard, protective Styrofoam on the corners, banded with straps and encased in plastic wrap. As to performance the fridge has only been used for two days thus far. It did cool down quickly to the set temperature and held that temp consistently. The only downside so far is that the numbers on the control panel can be nearly impossible to read in bright sunlight but I image that true of all fridges. There are no bells and whistles on this fridge like Bluetooth connectivity, but that's not something I did not want to pay for, anyway. I did find a temperature sensor/with Iphone app ($35) on Amazon that lets me monitor the internal temperature of the fridge from my phone. This fridge will get some extensive use in the next few months and I will update the review in the future, but so far I'm impressed.
This thing works great. I'm surprised how little time it took to get down to 0 degrees F. I look forward to more camping trips with this unit.
... but the VL45 came nicely packaged. It could have been dropped by an airplane and would have survived the fall. I actually may keep the box and all the foam padding for a makeshift insulated cover, with strategic holes cut to allow the fan to ventilate. People talk about the cigarette plug not staying firmly seated in the car's power socket, but I had no problem with it. I set the fridge for zero degrees with a water jug inside and it froze fairly quickly. Believe me, you can sense the quality when you attempt to lift the fridge. I can't see it sliding around in the back of my van. Very happy with my purchase.
